Practical tips

Maintenance of taps

How to clean your taps?

In general, you should not use abrasive cleaning products, specially with a scouring pad or iron wool pad, as they may damage the finishings. Any fat or grease stains can be eliminated with dish washer detergent.
Do not use salt or cleaning products that include vinegar to eliminate stains from the surface. They can damage it for ever. More resistant stains can be cleaned with a liquid metal polisher and a mild pad. In case of scratches or to polish most damaged areas, you can use a metal restorer.
Chrome plated taps can be cleaned using a humid cloth. You can dry them by rubbing the cloth over the surface. In most taps, you can just use water, liquid soap or a specifically designed product. Citrus acid is a quite effective home made remedy to eliminate lime residues.
